PFP LOOT SYSTEM

PFP stands for Phoenix Fury Points. It is a looting system based on earning points from killing targets and using those points to acquire items during raids. Variants of this system are used by most long-term guilds in order to award people fairly for the time and effort they put into helping each other during raids.

This system takes almost all the luck out of looting. It will spread the loot throughout the guild and make us a balanced and strong group, improving our ability to advance. This system is meant to reward those who raid often, but it will still benefit the less hardcore player since your points will be waiting for you when you are able to raid.

We encourage you to save points for items that you really want. Some people will want complete class sets, some will want uber weapons. Others still will save PFP for loot yet to be discovered in future instances. It's all up to you.

Earning Points

Attendance- We run the addon Headcount to track peoples' presence in the raid. We check attendance at the beginning of the raid, and at the end. Everyone able to participate in the raid group and in the instance area (zone if outside boss) at either of those two times will receive one point.  People who have stayed for the entire raid will receive two points.   The end time is generally specified, but the actual end time is determined by the raid leader.   Attendance is to award participation, not just "joining" the raid from afar

Boss kills - Bosses will generally be worth three points per kill. Initial boss kills are worth double points. Some bosses, such as Anub'arak, will be worth up to five points, by way of balancing points for an instance.

Standby - If people are turned away from the raid due to excessive numbers or group balance, the Raid Leader may designate some that they wish as "standby."  This requires them to be at the instance entrance or in the nearby vicinity during the course of the raid ready to come in within 5 minutes, and to have notified the Standby Contact person.  Standby players may play an alt during this time as long as they are easily contacted and willing to join the raid at a moments notice.  In return, they will be awarded points as if they were in the raid.  Players who do not wish to go on standby will be awarded their attendance point and be free to do whatever they want.  If they join the raid at a later time, they will only receive points for their time in the raid.

There is no maximum cap on PFP. Large positive PFP points are a sign that someone has helped a lot of people get their gear with a lot of work, and not gotten very many rewards.  Better-equipped raiders benefit the guild.  If necessary the council will solve any PFP hoarding problem by giving raid invitation preference to members who spend PFP.

Tracking Points:

Individuals' current PFP will be posted on the website.  Players may only spend points they have acquired prior to the start of the raid.  Points that are earned during the raid will not be added to that player's current total until after the raid has ended.  PFP spent during the raid will be deducted when it is spent.

Mains - People with multiple level 80 characters must declare one as their "main" character for accounting purposes.  PFP will be tracked referring to their main only.  Alts will earn to and spend from their main PFP account. Players may change their main character by petitioning the council. Once the transfer has been approved, all PFP will be transferred to the newly designated main.

Spending Points:

Our PFP system does not use rolling except as a way to put yellow text in the chat window. When loot drops, the loot master will announce which classes are eligible for each item. She/He will invite people to roll: again, this roll is nothing but a way to put yellow text in chat indicating interest in the item. The master looter will check points, and award the item to the person who indicated interest with the highest points. If two people indicate interest and have the same number of PFP, only then will a roll-off be done among those two. In the case of a roll-off, the roll does count

Note- if at the start of the raid, the Raid Leader has asked a player to switch to an alt character, that alt character may bid for any items that are appropriate.

Here is an example:

Lucifron drops Gloves of Might. The ML announces that they cost 18 PFP and asks who wants them. Xenon, Yak, and Zilch, all warriors, express interest by rolling. The PFP totals show that Xenon has 15 PFP, Yak has 5, and Zilch has 16 PFP. Zilch receives the gloves and has 18 PFP deducted from his total. Zilch's new total is negative 2 PFP.

If every character that can use an item is in negative PFP, it is offered to alternate classes. If no one bids then the item can be offered to the main class with negative PFP. If no one bids on a BOP item it will be disenchanted.

Recipes, Blood of the Mountain, Crusader Orbs, Dark Iron, disenchanted items, unbid BOE items, etc. will go directly to the guild bank.  These materials will be used at the council's discretion to acquire recipes and to gear specific players for the explicit benefit of the guild.  (Examples:  Gearing MTs, Mighty Intellect Enchant, etc.)  At some point in the future, these materials will be made available for a set PFP cost.

PFP may not be given to or borrowed from other players.

Quest items- First player to obtain a main quest item he/she needs will be top priority for finishing it first. This means that if a quest item drops in raid the person that needed it and received it will be top priority for any further quest items that drop that are needed to complete that same quest.

A sensible, mutual agreement between all relevant players can bypass these rules for specific items. For example, if all Hunters agree on a rotation for the Ancient Petrified Leaf epic drop, then they may utilize that rotation instead of the bidding system. Groups of players who are hotly contesting a single item are encouraged to sit down, talk about it, and consider taking advantage of this policy.

Special cases:

In general, people should not take more than one item per raid. If it happens that a person has taken one item and another drops that no one else wants, or if all members of that class have taken an item, then a person may take more than one, but in general we pass in favor of the others in our class after we have received an item.

The council reserves the right to overrule bids of those who act selfishly.  This will be exercised in only the most extreme cases.  (Ex:  Plate wearers bidding on cloth pieces.  The Relentless hunter that received Bindings of the Windseeker)

In the event many new players join Phoenix Fury, the council may deem it desirable to award starting PFP to give new players a reasonable chance at loot.  The average PFP of each class and the guild will be taken into account.

No one wants it?

1.  If the item is bind-on-equip, it will be stored in the guild bank, and be available to purchase to anyone who was not on the raid.   After a time it will be auctioned off, and the money used to fund the guild.

2.  If the item is bind-on-pickup, it will be disenchanted.

3. Just roll greed on any green items.

Background Notes

In general, we are trying to achieve a slightly positive PFP increase, but not an inflationary one.

The PFP costs for many items may seem high, but you may often go several raids without having any usable loot drop and will quickly accrue PFP.

ITEM COSTS

In general, for WLK every item costs 30 PFP.
General Eligibility

These are general guidelines, specific item cost/eligibility are presented in the following tables.  If no one of the specific class wants the restricted item, it becomes open by these more general guidelines.  You may only acquire goods for your guild characters and must equip them.

Class-specific armor: Only that class may purchase it, until everyone in that class has the piece.

Other armor: Leather-wearers may purchase cloth only if no cloth-wearer wants it. Mail-wearers may purchase leather only if no leather-wearer wants it. Mail-wearers may purchase cloth only if no cloth-wearer or leather-wearer wants it. The analogous statements are true of plate.

Trinkets and rings: Items such as these usually have stats that require preference to one group over another. In particular, rings, trinkets and cloaks that emphasize agility will be offered first to hunters, rogues, and ferals. Such items that emphasize strength will be offered preferentially to warriors, ret pallies, and DKs.

Recipes: you must have appropriate skill to learn that recipe and learn it. Patterns, enchants, and such will be awarded preferentially based on guild rank, in the hope that this gives a higher probability that they will remain in the guild.

PF Hits Level 25!

PF recently became a level 25 guild. At this point, PF members get 10% more experience and 10% more rep from killing stuff, and 10% more honor in BGs. Our items take 20% less durability loss on those (exceptionally rare) occasions when we die. Our hearthstones only need a 15 minute cooldown. We have guild pages, extra mining, skinning, and herb picking, and a group summon and group rez. Congrats PF!
