Phoenix Fury Rank System
Phoenix Fury is a casual guild. Still, we work together because we want to enjoy end-game content, and doing so requires a certain level of gear and experience. Thus, we are required to have some kind of guild ranking system. Here are the Phoenix Fury ranks and some guidelines for their assignment.
Recruit
These are people who are very new to the guild. Recruits earn PFP but cannot spend it unless the entire raid passes on a BoP item. They are allowed to attend raids at the raid leader's discretion. A person is typically a recruit for 3-4 weeks. Anyone who is a recruit longer than that should contact his class leader and ask about a promotion.
Romulus
Alt rank for all Thebans, Myrmidons, and Spartans.
Theban
These are members in good standing who cannot or choose not to participate in end-game raiding. For the most part, they will be toons that have not reached level 80, or level 80s whose gear is not yet of raid quality. Thebans may attend raids and earn PFP at the raid leader's discretion, but they cannot go on standby.
Thebans will be promoted to Myrmidons by council decision based on an expressed interest in raiding, preparation for raiding, and a need for that class to raid. In short, if you want to be promoted from Theban, you need to let an officer know, gear up as much as possible, attend 5 and 10-man content, and learn to play your class as fully as possible. Give yourself the best possible chance of filling an open spot in the main raids.
Myrmidon
This is the basic raiding class. Myrmidons are people who participate in raids, but might still need gear and experience in specific instances to become critical members of the group.
Myrmidons can be promoted to Spartan when they acquire sufficient gear, skill, and experience in large-raid content. If you want to be promoted to Spartan, work hard to improve your gear and demonstrate that you know your class well.
Spartan
These are the people who are prepared in terms of skill, gear, and dedication to work the hardest content in the World of Warcraft. For the most part, they come to raids to help others: they have much of their gear, and use it for the benefit of the guild. Spartans may volunteer for standby in order to gear up the rest of the guild. Note that Spartan is really the highest rank in the guild. The Titans and Olympians just have extra work added to their rank.
Remus
Alt rank for Titans and Olympians so that they can perform officer functions while playing their alts.
Titan
This rank of officers helps maintain and ensure the guild runs smoothly. Most officers are volunteers who have one or more specific responsibilities such as evaluating new recruits, moderating the forums, updating the main website, maintaining the PFP system, organizing events, and tracking profession and trade skills. Titans are the workhorses of the guild.
Olympian
Phoenix Fury is led by a council. The responsibilities of the council include, but are not limited to, conflict resolution, guild vault maintenance, guild policy, and class leadership.
If you have a complaint about a guildmate / recruit or disagree with a council decision or guild policy; your first course of action is to consult a council member. If unresolved, your next course of action would be to contact one of the other council members, and finally to discuss your issue in the Phoenix Fury forums.
N.B. We try intentionally to keep the PF officer corps small. This is not an effort to be elitist - there is no particular prestige that attaches to the Olympian or Titan ranks. Instead, it is frankly a reaction to our experience in other guilds that granted officer status in a cavalier way. The result was too many people involved in discussions. With so many disparate opinions and personalities involved in said discussions, the inevitable result was strong disagreement, and the dreaded drama. We keep the number of our officers small in an attempt to reduce drama.
PF Hits Level 25!
PF recently became a level 25 guild. At this point, PF members get 10% more experience and 10% more rep from killing stuff, and 10% more honor in BGs. Our items take 20% less durability loss on those (exceptionally rare) occasions when we die. Our hearthstones only need a 15 minute cooldown. We have guild pages, extra mining, skinning, and herb picking, and a group summon and group rez. Congrats PF!
